Whether you’re selling software as a service, offering personal training services or running an online marketing agency, your business will need to implement a sales funnel strategy in order to attract and convert leads into customers. A sales funnel is a marketing tool that helps to align and automate your marketing and sales efforts and increase efficiency.
A sales funnel is a marketing tool that includes different stages that help to guide prospects from awareness through conversion and ultimately becoming repeat customers. This can be done by using a variety of marketing channels, such as social media, email, video and content.
The first stage of the sales funnel is the awareness phase, where you capture the attention of your prospects by delivering your message through different channels such as paid social media ads, a sponsored post on a popular blog or a YouTube video.
At this stage, you can also use a lead magnet to attract prospects by creating an eBook or white paper on a relevant topic. You can then disseminate this content through a variety of channels to encourage prospects to take action and move closer to your sales conversion goal, such as filling out a form on your website or downloading the free resource.
As the prospect moves into the interest stage of the sales funnel, it’s important to continue building trust by delivering relevant information that helps them solve their problem and meet their goals. This can be achieved by continuing to demonstrate your expertise and value through your various marketing channels such as podcasts, webinars and case studies. This is also the time to start identifying your best buyers and creating targeted campaigns that offer them the right solutions at the right times.
Once a prospect reaches the desire stage, they’re ready to purchase. They’re aware of their problem and have narrowed down their options to a few competitors. This is the time to make a bold offer that’s hard to refuse, such as free shipping or discount coupons. This is the moment to pique their interest so that they can’t resist moving toward your conversion goal, such as speaking with a sales representative or purchasing your product.
Once a prospect has reached the bottom of the sales funnel, they have purchased your product or service and are a valuable customer.
It’s important to nurture these new customers through various marketing channels such as content, social media and email in order to maximize the ROI of your marketing spend. You can even upsell additional products or services to ensure that your customers continue to grow their relationship with your brand and make repeat purchases.
Keeping an eye on key metrics such as conversion rates, average deal size and sales velocity can help you to improve your sales funnel and increase your sales revenue.
